Claimant's Offer
A Claimant can make an offer to settle the claim for a particular sum, or on particular terms where the claim is for something other than money. The offer must be in writing and can be made at any time.

Defendant's Offer
In money claims, Defendants can make payment offers to put Claimants under pressure as to costs. In addition, offers to settle can be made before the case starts. To be effective the offer must be in writing and follow various technical requirements prescribed by the rules. Where the claim is for something other than money, offers to settle can be made at any time during the case.
